Chrysler is recalling approximately 1.2 million RAM pickup trucks because the steering systems’ tie rods were not aligned properly during assembly. Due to alignment problem, the RAM truck could lose steering capabilities while in use. This steering failure resulted from technicians “misinterpreting” the instructions when installing the tie road assembly. Although not all RAMs will need repairs, Chrysler will be inspecting all the RAM trucks affected to ensure that there is no defect.

Three separate recalls deal with this issue. The breakdown is as follows:
About 842,000 Ram 2500 and 3500 heavy-duty pickups from the 2003-08 model years, of which Chrysler estimates that about 116,000 would require repairs.
Approximately 294,000 Ram 2500 and 3500 pickups and chassis cabs from the 2008-12 model years and 2008-model Ram 1500 4×4 Mega Cabs will be recalled. All require repairs.
About 43,500 Ram 4500 and 5500 4×4 chassis cabs from the 2008-12 model years. All require repairs.
Chrysler will begin customer notification in December. Repairs could start as soon as January; however, owners of the RAM 4500 and 5500 models may have to wait until late next year due to availability of parts.
Additionally, Chrysler recalled 94,000 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokees due to electronic problems. These electronic problems could disable the ABS system and the electronic stability control system. Chrysler will begin notification to dealerships and owners this month. The recall number is that Chrysler has assigned is N58.
