Actos Litigation Lawyers
Multidistrict litigation (MDL) is a federal procedure for consolidating complex civil cases involving one or more common questions of fact. While similar to class action lawsuits, each lawsuit consolidated into an MDL remains active and is decided on an individual basis.
On December 29, 2011 the Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation (JPML) established MDL No. 2299 for all federal claims alleging injury caused by the diabetes drug Actos. Actos, manufactured by Takeda Pharmaceuticals America Inc., is associated with an increased the risk of developing bladder cancer in patients who have taken Actos for more than one year. The MDL is assigned to Judge Rebecca F. Doherty of the U. S. District Court for the Western District of Louisiana.
A hearing is scheduled in April 16, 2012 in Los Angeles to discuss the current status of the JCCP for the coordinated California Actos litigation. In a JCCP the California cases are combined for certain pre trial purposes to one Court to coordinate pretrial matters.
We are currently investigating claims involving the development of bladder cancer arising from the use of Actos. If you or a loved one have taken Actos and are now suffering from side effects related to Actos, including bladder cancer, please contact our attorneys immediately for a free case evaluation.
