Currently, there is a concern over the connection between the arthritis drug Vioxx and heart attacks and strokes. • Fosamax: Given to Osteoporosis patients to treat or prevent bone degeneration, Fosamax has been linked to damage in the jaw called Osteonecrosis of the Jaw (ONJ or dead jaw).
• Avandia: Avandia has been given to type two diabetes patients to control blood sugar levels in order to reduce the risk of stroke, heart attack, and heart disease. However, studies have revealed that patients taking Avandia actually have an increased risk of heart attack, heart disease or stroke.

Our Defective Drug and Medical Device Experience:

300 Dalkon Shield contraceptive settlements for over $10 million for women with injuries ranging from infection, loss of organs, infertility, stillbirth and septic abortion.

Higuera v. Syntrax (San Luis Obispo County): Over $3,400,000 settlement for a woman requiring a liver transplant after using Lipokinetix, an untested dietary supplement.

L-tryptophan: Six settlements sealed by court order, average settlement $1 million for users of a defective health food supplement.

In Re DIET DRUGS: Eight settlements sealed by court order, average settlement $1 million.

Healy v. Dalkon Shield Claimants Trust, $1 million verdict for infertile Dalkon Shield contraceptive victim awarded by San Francisco jury.

Bell v. Dalkon Shield Claimants Trust, San Francisco Superior Court $700,000 verdict for infertile Dalkon Shield contraceptive victim.

In addition, Thomas Brandi was court appointed to serve on behalf of plaintiffs in Dalkon Shield class action matters in Virginia. Thomas was also a member of the Plaintiffs' Management Committee in the California Diet Drug Litigation where thousands of individuals were victimized by the diet pill combination Fen-Phen and is a member of the California Plaintiffs steering committee in the California Vioxx litigation.
