The San Francisco Trial Lawyers Association have announced the four cases and their lawyers who are nominated for the SFTLA Trial Lawyer of the Year. Noteworthy trial verdicts are submitted to the organizations’ Board of Directors, who reduce the list to four finalists. Included in the list are Thomas Brandi and Jason Friedman of The Brandi Law Firm for their work in obtaining the verdict against the State of California for a dangerous condition on SR 1 in San Mateo County, which resulted in serious injuries to Cindy Burkowski in Burkowski vs. State of California. Also nominated were co-counsel Boris Efron and Gail Lamchick.
Jason Friedman is a graduate of UC Santa Barbara and worked in The Brandi Law Firm doing computer graphics at trial before going to University of San Francisco School of Law. He joined The Brandi Law Firm in 2012 as an attorney. This is his first nomination for Trial Lawyer of the Year.
For Thomas Brandi, this is the sixth time he has been nominated for SFTLA TLOY in the 18 years of the award. He has also been nominated three times for CAOC State of California Trial Lawyer of the Year, winning it once.
The winners will be announced on April 6, 2017.
