Subaru Recalls Over 200,000 Vehicles Over Corroded Brake Lines

| Apr 9, 2013 | Automobile Defects

In addition, to our earlier posts regarding Toyota FJ cruisers and Nissan vans, and 2013 Dodge Challengers, Honda and Acura Pilots, another automobile recall occurred regarding 2005-2009 Subaru Outbacks and Legacies.

On March 27, 2013, Subaru Outback and Legacy vehicles manufactured from December 2003, through April 2009, and currently, or formerly, registered in Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, West Virginia, Wisconsin and the District of Columbia were recalled due to brake lines rusting and leaking fluid.  The recall states that salt water could splash on the brake lines through a gap in the fuel tank protector, resulting in excessive corrosion of the brake lines.  The brake line corrosion can lead to brake line leakage.  The less brake line fluid increases the risk of a crash.

At this time, the manufacturer has not yet provided a notification schedule.  Subaru owners may contact Subaru at 800-782-2783.  Subaru’s recall campaign number is WQG-43.
