Shortly after Easter 2014, General Motors revealed that the troubled auto manufacturer is the subject of 5 different government probes. The probes were revealed in GM’s required regulatory filing. The investigations are under the direction of the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York, the SEC, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), a state attorney general, and Congress. The regulatory filing also revealed for the first time that a state attorney general and the SEC are also investigation GM for their most recent recalls.

The company announced last Thursday that GM is aware of 55 class action lawsuits currently pending in the US and 5 in Canada.
GM has dealt with an onslaught of automobile recalls, NHTSA investigations and congressional hearings since February 2014.
